With the objective of promoting the modernization of the agricultural sector and improving water-use efficiency, a working meeting was held in Reynosa, led by Raúl Quiroga Álvarez, head of the Secretariat of Hydraulic Resources for Social Development of Tamaulipas, together with presidents and managers of the Civil Associations of Users of Irrigation District 026 Bajo Río San Juan.
Key representatives from the agricultural sector participated in the meeting, including Relbo Raúl Treviño, Mario Mejía Vega, Carlos Hinojosa, José Luis Hinojosa, and Abelino Pérez García, who reviewed the progress of technification projects in the region.
During the session, advancements in hydro-agricultural modernization were assessed, along with concrete alternatives to facilitate producers’ access to financing schemes. These proposals aim to strengthen investment capacity in on-farm infrastructure, optimize the use of water resources, and enhance the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in Tamaulipas.
The actions discussed are part of the national technification program promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and are supported by the state governor, Américo Villarreal, consolidating a coordinated agenda across different levels of government.
Authorities and users agreed on the importance of moving toward a more efficient, sustainable, and competitive agricultural model, in which technification is established as a strategic tool for the productive development of the Tamaulipas agricultural sector.
